Community Guidelines

Last updated: 27 June 2026

BeerLog is a personal beer journal, and it’s private by default. Your profile and the beers you log are visible only to the friends you approve — unless you choose to make them public. These guidelines cover what’s expected of anyone who shares content other people can see, and what we do when someone breaks the rules.

What “public” means on BeerLog

BeerLog is built private-first. Every profile and every log starts private. You can opt in — for your whole profile, or for a single log — to make something public. “Public” means visible to other signed-in BeerLog users, including people you’ve never met. It does not mean the open web: BeerLog content always stays behind a login, is never shown to people who aren’t signed in, and is never indexed by search engines.

On a public log, anyone signed in can react. Comments stay friends-only — only people you’ve approved as friends can comment on what you log.

What’s not allowed

BeerLog is a place to share beers, not to harm or harass people. Don’t post — or behave — in any of these ways:

  • Harassment or hate — bullying, abuse, slurs, or attacks on people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, age, or any other protected characteristic.
  • Threats or violence — threatening, encouraging, or glorifying violence against anyone.
  • Sexual or explicit content — pornography, nudity, or sexually explicit material. BeerLog is about beer; there’s no place for it here.
  • Illegal content — anything that breaks the law, including promoting illegal drugs or the supply of alcohol to minors.
  • Spam or scams — junk, repetitive posts, misleading promotions, phishing, or fraud.
  • Impersonation — pretending to be someone you’re not, or misrepresenting who you are.
  • Other people’s content without permission — photos or material you don’t have the right to share, including photos of identifiable people who haven’t agreed to appear.
  • Anything else objectionable — content or behaviour a reasonable person would find abusive, hateful, or harmful, even if it isn’t listed above.

Zero tolerance

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive behaviour. There’s no warning quota and no “three strikes” here. If you post content that breaks these guidelines, we remove it. If you harass, threaten, or abuse other people, we suspend or permanently remove your account. Serious cases — threats, hate, or anything illegal — can mean immediate and permanent removal, with no second chance.

How to report something

If you see a log or a profile that breaks these guidelines, tell us — it takes a few seconds:

  • Report a log: open the log, open its menu, and choose Report.
  • Report a profile: open the profile, open its menu, and choose Report.
  • Block someone: from the same menu, choose Block. They can no longer see you or your content, and they’re never told they’ve been blocked.

Pick the reason that fits best — Spam or scam, Harassment or hate, Threats or violence, Inappropriate or explicit, or Other. When you report a log, it’s hidden from you straight away while we review it.

Prefer to report directly, or have something that doesn’t fit the in-app options? Email us at [email protected].

How we respond

Every report is reviewed by a real person — there’s a human behind BeerLog, not an automated filter. We aim to act within 24 hours of a report. When content breaks these guidelines we remove it, and where it’s warranted we suspend or permanently remove the account behind it. If we review something and find nothing wrong, it goes back to normal.
